10th August, my MTB trip to Anyer from Cilegon. This is the first time I went offroading since…ehm, 3 months ago, and supposed to be a farewell trip for Mbak Nining, whose going to marry - then off their go to Tokyo, Japan. Wait, I wont write about the trip here, which I labeled "one of the worse", just want to share few pics. Anywhoo, the line ends up in Anyer Beach around 4 PM, nice settings and weather despite heavy aching all over my body. For Mbak Nining..good luck and happy journey to the new, married-life. We are sure will miss you.

jco_cthall.jpgLast year I heard rumor that J.Co will expand their Donut (and now Coffee) shop to Singapore. Good call cause Singapore needs quality, delicious Donut..Ha! Why I said so? Until then, they only have few local Donut shops which I think a bit "overrated". I mean they were all "ok", but people would que long lines for that. The gimmics and good advertising worked. I knew they’d like J.Co, at least my family in Singapore does. Sometimes I brought a few dozens from Jakarta/Batam. Now I dont have to cause J.Co’s already been in Singapore for a few months. And like all J.Co’s outlet in its origin country, the que’s long and it sells fast.

The other day we went to this J.Co outlet in City Hall and saw only few left while it was still around evening. Im glad, a lil bit proud that Indonesian frachise could success here (I know ES TELER 77 is the first one coming here). What happened to that other local Donut shop? Kasihan deh, no more que. And they still have plenty of stocks either.

P.S: I personally think J.Co’s Hazelnut Latte is far more delicious than Starbucks’..dont you agree ;-)

I forgot to write about my first experience in Lau Pa Sat…. I hardly heard about this 24 hour "makan" place until my wife told me there was this food festival there. You noe I like to eat (who doesnt?) and try new dishes, so I googled around for infos. We almost didnt make it, tired already cos getting late but I insisted (hehehe).. First time I reached there I knew I passed there few times but dunno what was there. The building itself is very different, said to be "the largest remaining Victorian filigree cast-iron structure in South East Asia", you wont missed this place. I think you can find almost any kind of food there, but the main attraction is Satay. Unlike Indonesian Satay, they are bigger and marinated with kinda sweet sauce before barbequed. And for the gravy, they use grounded peanut and tastes sweet. Dont forget, it wont be complete before you try their Teh Tarik. One of my mistake that time was ordering Seafood. Dilla told me NOT to try seafood in Singapore..they’re SUCKS :-) and expensive too! Well, I wont noe till I tried though so never mind. Alas, I lost all snapshots of this place. That’s why no pics about Lau Pa Sat. But one thing for sure, if I go Singapore again, This place will be on my hot-list.

Uniquely Singapore’s Lau Pa Sat

Its been quite some time, 7 month, since I visit Singapore. Work is my excuse, this new job makes my weekends so precious. Alhamdulillah my wife could go visit me often so compared to last year, its not too bad. I missed Singapore. Not only because half of my soul,s there but half of my heart and family,s there. Last July I finally made it to Singapore again. Everytime I go there it always special, but this time’s different cause Dilla got straight 5 days off, meaning more time for us. So what have I missed this past seven months? First time I noticed when I reached is no more 711 downstairs! Me and wifey used to buy stuff from there, specially at night when we craved for something. Now we have to walk further down the gas station for the nearest 711. Its Ok, at least I can hold my wife’s hands a bit longer…PIC_0146_resize.JPGPIC_0125_resize.JPGPIC_0138_resize.JPG

Next, they start to demolished the school in front of Dilla’s place. She said they’re going to build a new school or something. And I just found out the next day that they’ve changed the voice announcement in MRT, although not all lines affected. My two fave nephew already grown up. Sefia’s already schooling now and keep calling me “Mr.Janggut”, and Jojo now can walk, making him a cute super active boy. You can see some of their action in Our Gallery page. For nearly a week I’m there we tried to spend as much time as we can. As usual we went to Vivo City, one of “the places” we always go. Read the rest of this entry »

While I’m too busy/lazy to write, I’ve uploaded some photos from my last trip visiting my wife. You can check them all in Our Gallery section.

By the way, you can also try the Guestbook page up there. I’m trying that one out first.

I’m shocked, just got back from one of the worse traffic jam in my life… at least since I moved to new office in BSD. Today I had to attend a seminar in Shangrila Hotel and the grumble begins early morning as it took 1 hour drive from BATAN to RPX Office (both distance is no more than 2km, by the way). Luckily the seminar started 1 hour late so I didnt miss anything.

The journey back wasnt pretty either as you’ve known by now. I started my engine at 6 PM, stopped by in some IT Fair in Senayan, not more than 30 mins, then reached home at 10 PM!! 4 hours, yes I typed correctly, 4 freakin’ hours for just a mere 20km…. It was drizzling for awhile but far from heavy rain.

Does the traffic become worse? Does it fair to blame the weather? Or maybe I’ve been pampered by relatively no-headache traffic from my place to BSD? Probably.

Hold on, I’m not taking about shoes here. I know you girls would choose platform shoes over high heels, on the comfy side at least, but as I said I’m talking about different thing here..umm well..close, its about bicycle pedal. Generally, there are two kinds of pedal in cycling terms: Platform or flat pedal and clipless. The first refers to the normal pedal that commonly seen in bicycle. The other, clipless pedal, have a special mechanism to "clip in" the shoes. Dont ask about the name "clipless", been questioned about it either. Ofcourse you’d use a special cycling shoes that has a cleat bolted on the bottom part.
I used to be a platform fan. Depite good rants (effective pedaling and energy bla bla bla..) using clipless, I told myself I wont touch it. The main reason probably from the mechanism itself. The horrible thought of my feet strap on the pedal makes me feel unsafe. Beside, I need to buy a special shoe for that, not to mention the pedal itself.

So why I changed my mind? Well, I want to prove that using clipless makes better pedaling, specially uphill. The other reason, I’ve been eyeing on hiking shoe and I thought MTB shoes makes a good 2-in-1 solution. Excuses? hmmm probably…
To cut the story short, I finally bought my first clipless-MTB-shoe, a Shimano MT41 matched with VP dual pedal. This dual pedal has both, a clip on one side and a platform on the other side. Perfect for newbie like me. The MT41 quite fashionable. I mean you can still wear it in the mall and looks good on it!

How did it go? No need to explain this and that. I’d say one thing, I wish I use clipless pedal long time ago! I can feel the difference instantly. I’m still honing to use it though, hope the uphill become more friendlier now….

Guilty as charged. I admit there’s been tad slow on the update side here but I got my reasons. I’ve been busy with my new job now. Yes! I leave my previous job and now join an IT Consulting company. It’s a challenging and great job so far. There’s plenty to learn on this new territtory, not to mention the positive culture I could experience.
